The Maison Bretagne team were asked to realise the complete interior renovation of this three storey property close to Saint Malo, Brittany. The client had a precise brief and had engaged the services of a planner to ensure that their desires were met. We worked closely with other artisans on this project including Harrison Electricité who installed a complete heating system together with high end radiators of the clients choice and they completed a full rewire and all plumbing works at the property.
The windows and doors were made to measure and a three storey porch / extension was added to the side of the house by our collaborators Alnot Menuiserie
Maison Bretagne was engaged to carry out the complete internal renovations and decoration of this three storey property in early 2018. The project required a close relationship with the client and because they were not onsite we collaborated with Brittany Architectural Services regarding plans and sourcing of specific fittings and fixtures that the clients requested.
We began by stripping out the entire ground and first floors in preparation for the rail, insulation and plaster boarding works. **Important note** The insulation installed in the roof spaces and externally facing walls were in accordance with the RT2012 regulations. Our team also converted the basement area of the property , which was previously a garage, into a separate studio apartment with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and small living / dining area. A new kitchen was fitted in the first floor main kitchen area and also in the studio apartment in the basement.
The flooring was sourced by Maison Bretagne at the behest of the client from our supplier in Saint Malo who have a specialist selection of wooden parquet flooring sourced from all over France. The flooring chosen by the client from a selection of three we proposed was a herringbone parquet, each individual piece measuring 17x15x500mm and each had to be individually glued down to a specialist underlay. This flooring covered approximately 84 m2 of the property on the ground and basement levels. The flooring was then carefully treated with an oil to preserve the finish and quality of the Oak veneer. Although this was somewhat back breaking work and required a steady hand and lots of patience – we think that the results speak for themselves. Most importantly the clients were very happy.
The decoration carried out by our team was using paint supplied by Farrow & Ball
