The Team Behind the Transformation

Meet Our Team

Based in the medieval town of Dinan, close to the north coast of Brittany, Maison Bretagne brings together a small, highly skilled team with complementary expertise in renovation, construction, interior architecture and interior design.

Our team includes a qualified interior architect, an interior designer, experienced on-site artisans and a general builder with more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. This combination allows us to offer a complete renovation service, from early ideas and spatial planning through to construction, finishing and handover.

Every member of the team works within the Maison Bretagne CRAFT Method: Clarity, Realism, Accountability, Flexibility and Transparency.

This means we do not approach renovation as a series of disconnected tasks. We work together from the beginning to understand the property, the client’s objectives, the budget, the design direction and the practical realities of the building itself.

Our design team helps translate ideas into considered layouts, finishes and interiors. Our construction team brings practical experience, technical knowledge and craftsmanship to the works on site. Together, we aim to create renovations that are not only beautiful, but realistic, well-planned and carefully delivered.

We take time at the early stages of each project to understand what our clients want to achieve, whether they are renovating a family home, a holiday property, a gîte, a longère or a character house in Brittany or Normandy. This usually begins with an initial conversation, a detailed review of the property and, where appropriate, plans or spatial studies to help clarify the best way forward.

Creating the Perfect Team

A Collaborative Renovation Process

Our goal is to bring clarity, creativity and craftsmanship to every stage of a renovation project.

For many clients, the journey begins with our design team. Their role is to translate ideas, needs and aspirations into a clear visual direction through considered 2D and 3D design. The design and project co-ordination team works closely with clients to understand how each space should look, feel and function, ensuring that the overall renovation remains coherent from the first concept through to the final finishing touches.

For larger projects, the design, project co-ordinator and construction teams work together to create a clear schedule of works, helping clients understand the likely sequence of the project and the key decisions required along the way. This reflects our CRAFT Method: clarity from the beginning, realism in the planning, accountability throughout the process, flexibility where needed and transparency at every stage.

Our design team also supports clients with sourcing the details that make a project feel complete, from fixtures and fittings to finishes, colours and decorative elements. These carefully chosen touches often help bring the whole renovation together.

On site, Maison Bretagne has a strong full-time team of skilled artisans with complementary experience across carpentry, joinery, roofing, masonry, insulation and plasterboarding. Their practical knowledge and attention to detail are essential to the quality and character of our work.

We also work with a trusted network of specialist subcontractors, including plasterers, tilers, decorators, qualified electricians and fully insured plumbers. These professional relationships have been built over many years and allow us to maintain the standards of workmanship, reliability and finish that Maison Bretagne is known for.

A successful renovation depends on the right people working together at the right time. Our role is to coordinate that team, protect the quality of the work and guide each project towards a finished result that feels thoughtful, practical and beautifully resolved.

Sustainable Practices

Local Knowledge, Professional Guidance

Our in-house team is based in the medieval town of Dinan, in the heart of northern Brittany.

Having lived and worked in the region for more than ten years, we have built a strong understanding of local properties, suppliers, artisans, planning processes and the practical realities of renovating in France. This “feet on the ground” knowledge is invaluable for our clients, particularly those managing a renovation from abroad.

Over the years, Maison Bretagne has developed trusted relationships with local suppliers, specialist subcontractors and professional trades. These connections help us plan projects more efficiently, source appropriate materials and coordinate the right people at the right stage of the works.

Our qualified and bilingual team also helps clients navigate the parts of a French renovation that can feel unfamiliar, from understanding local expectations to communicating with suppliers, trades and administrative bodies. This local knowledge allows us to give clients greater clarity and confidence throughout the renovation process.

Just as importantly, Maison Bretagne has experience working with local authorities, including Dinan Agglomération, local mairies and, where required, the Architectes des Bâtiments de France. For properties in protected areas or historic settings, this understanding can be particularly important.

Our in-house planning support helps clients prepare the right information for planning applications, déclarations préalables and heritage-related submissions. By understanding the protocols and expectations involved, we aim to make the process clearer, more structured and as efficient as possible.

This combination of local experience, bilingual communication, planning knowledge and trusted professional relationships forms one of the core strengths of Maison Bretagne.
