It can be a tricky business knowing who to trust when hiring a builder or other artisan in France. Just because you’ve found someone who speaks your language doesn’t mean they’re the right man, or woman, for the job. When working with tradespeople in France there are many things to consider and reflect upon before jumping in with both feet, you might be spending your savings on creating the French home you’ve dreamed about so taking your time to get to know your tradesperson and making sure they have the right qualifications, insurances as well as being able to see your vision is a must.

Our design director, Rosie Ellis, answers the questions of readers below in a recent copy of French Property News and tries to clarify the important documents to request before you engage in works with an artisan in France.
